1. OUR COMMITMENT TO INTEGRITY

Chess Point is built on the premise that chess is a game of pure skill. Integrity is our product. If players believe their opponents are using assistance, the value of our Platform collapses.

Therefore, we enforce a strict Zero Tolerance Policy regarding all forms of cheating, rating manipulation, and unsportsmanlike conduct.

2. DEFINITION OF "CHEATING"

You are strictly prohibited from using any external assistance during a game. "Cheating" includes, but is not limited to:

2.1. Chess Engines & AI

  • Using any chess engine, analysis software, or neural network (e.g., Stockfish, Komodo, Leela Chess Zero) to calculate moves or evaluate positions during a live game.
  • Using "Cloud Analysis" or "Hint" features provided by third-party browser extensions.

2.2. External Assistance

  • Receiving move suggestions from another person (including coaches, friends, or stream viewers).
  • Using endgame tablebases (e.g., Syzygy) or opening databases/books during a live game.
  • "Crowdsourcing" moves (e.g., asking for help on Discord, Twitch, or Telegram while playing).

2.3. Automated Input (Botting)

  • Using "Auto-Clickers," macros, or scripts to enter moves.
  • Using "Relay" software that automatically transmits moves from a chess engine to the Chess Point interface.

3. RATING & MATCH MANIPULATION

Cheating is not just about winning; it is also about manipulating the system to gain an unfair advantage in tournaments or prize payouts.

3.1. Sandbagging

  • Intentionally losing games, resigning early, or playing poor moves to artificially lower your rating.
  • Purpose: This is often done to enter "Rating Restricted" tournaments (e.g., U1500) to crush weaker players for prizes. We ban for this.

3.2. Collusion (Match Fixing)

  • Pre-arranging the result of a game with an opponent (e.g., agreeing to a draw or a specific winner).
  • Intentionally losing to a friend or "alt account" to boost their rating or tournament standing.

3.3. Multi-Accounting

  • Creating multiple accounts to bypass rating limits, manipulate tournament pairings, or evade previous bans.
  • Users are permitted one active account unless express written permission is granted by Chess Point staff.

4. DETECTION METHODS

4.1. The "Black Box" Principle

To protect the integrity of our detection systems, Chess Point will never reveal specific data, logs, or "proof" regarding why an account was flagged. Revealing this data allows cheaters to reverse-engineer our systems and avoid detection in the future.

4.2. How We Detect Cheating

We employ a combination of methods, including but not limited to:

  • Engine Correlation Analysis: Comparing your moves against top-tier chess engines. Consistently matching "top engine moves" in complex positions is a statistical impossibility for humans over long periods.
  • Behavioral Telemetry: Analyzing time-usage patterns (e.g., taking the exact same amount of time for a forced mate as for a complex opening move) and tab-switching behavior.
  • Statistical Probability: Assessing the likelihood of a player with a specific rating performing at a significantly higher rating ("Performance Rating") during prize events.
  • Manual Review: Grandmaster (GM) and International Master (IM) review of flagged games.

5. ENFORCEMENT & PENALTIES

If we determine, in our sole discretion, that you have violated this policy, we may take one or more of the following actions:

5.1. Immediate Disqualification

  • You will be removed from any ongoing tournament.
  • Your game results will be overturned (changed to losses).

5.2. Asset Forfeiture

  • CP Balance: Any ChessPoints (CP) in your account will be forfeited.
  • Prizes: Any pending TON prizes or other rewards will be withheld. We do not issue refunds for Entry Fees (CP or TON) to banned players.

5.3. Account Termination

  • Your account will be permanently closed.
  • We may publicly label your account profile with a status such as "Closed for Fair Play Violation" to inform the community.

5.4. Federation Reporting

  • For serious offenses involving significant prize pools, we reserve the right to report your identity and game data to FIDE (International Chess Federation) or national chess federations for further disciplinary action.

6. THE 48-HOUR VERIFICATION WINDOW

As stated in our Terms of Service, all Prize Tournaments are subject to a 48-hour Verification Window after the final round.

  • Payouts (TON) are not instant.
  • During this window, our Anti-Cheat team reviews the top finishers.
  • If you are flagged during this window, you will receive zero prizes, even if you "won" the tournament on the board.

7. APPEALS PROCESS

We understand that false positives, while rare, are theoretically possible.

  • How to Appeal: You may submit one (1) appeal via our Support Center within 7 days of your ban.
  • Requirement: You must provide a clear explanation. Simple statements like "I didn't cheat" will be rejected.
  • Finality: The decision of the Chess Point Fair Play Team regarding an appeal is final and binding. There is no further recourse.

8. ACKNOWLEDGMENT

By playing on Chess Point, you acknowledge that our statistical analysis is the standard of proof. You waive any right to sue for defamation or loss of potential winnings resulting from a Fair Play ban.
